Let’s not confuse daily effort charts for behavior modification as what was used when I taught SPED . These were charts for students to earn daily, weekly, & ultimately a month prize. Students needed to visually see their progress.

I think it's important for children to experience what it feels like to know there are people who put forth more effort than themselves. They may feel inadequate, or that they didn't do their best. Either way, they learn to celebrate others. It's all part of the growing process.
