The Senator is a great person and I cannot speak to her motives, but the end result will either be handing the seat to the GOP because of a 3 way race or (more optimistically) her being replaced by a willing Democrat.

I have always liked and respected Senator McLeod, but I’m perplexed by this. It will not fix the SCDP, nor will it usher in a new-improved progressive party. The way to fight against the bad policies of SC’s GOP-controlled government is sticking together, not splintering.

Our State Supreme Court has found a right in our Constitution which was never intended by the people of South Carolina. With this opinion, the Court has clearly exceeded its authority. SC Supreme Court rules 3-2 today that state’s restrictive abortion act violates women’s right to privacy and is therefore unconstitutional under state constitution. 147-page opinion. Each Justice wrote separate opinion. Beatty, Hearn & Few in majority.
