Cops on the Greek island of today fired tear gas/plastic bullets at 1000s of refugees protesting against tougher new asylum rules. After surviving the deadly trip to cross the Aegean sea borders the refugees are trapped waiting for asylum papers under terrible conditions.

A friend sent me this photo of her caucus location. Most of these folks are first time caucus-goers of Burmese decent. All of them are supporting Bernie.

The political economy of atrocities against the Rohingya remains, surely, extremely under-emphasized

That is, it remains, to me, a sign of an impoverished political imagination that so many in Burma/MM still look to the “international” community for justice. The struggle is elsewhere, surely, always, however well-intentioned the appeals to the ICJ certainly are.

Apropos of the latest: I still believe that any achievement of justice by/for Rohingya people will occur through grounded material struggle, *not* through abstract legal decisions - unlikely to be enforceable, of course - from some supposed international community.

I learned at AAAs: that a global paper shortage, not unrelated to Amazon, was the reason this wasn’t for sale yet there. Extremely material! Thankfully I have my copy now and am making my way through it. Plenty to think with, no doubt. (⚡️)
