It’s nowhere near as common in Canada as in ‘Merica. We’re special like that unfortunately.

I think it doesn't really happen in Ireland except for medical reasons, though I think they changed guidelines around religious circumcision after someone died and doctors do those too now.

America is fairly unique. There are actually very interesting reasons why it’s common here and not most other countries. Believe it or not it has a lot to do with the guy who created Raisin Bran cereal and bogus health concerns related to teenage masturbation.

I'm not positive on the numbers, but believe around 30%of Canadian neonates are still circumcised. Someone please correct me if this is way off.

We are closer to 70-80%, but it’s much higher or lower in some regions. At my hospital virtually 100% are circumcised.

It’s gradually declining. Very uncommon in some populations. In Houston at country hospital I did like 2 a month because most patients were from Mexico.

I don’t have actual stats, but I can say newborn circumcision is rare in NZ. Approx 10% In 14years at my General Practice I’ve only seen one circumcised baby
and I asked the parents why they chose to.”To look like his Dad”.
WTF?
“To look different from all his friends”, then?4 replies 2 retweets 7 likes -

Yeah that argument is the weirdest of all becuz what else matches, hair, eyes, personality.? Yet conversely that IMMENSELY shallow argument was the ONLY thing that saved me & my brother, my dad isn't circumcised. The decision was that shallow & its terrifying. ..1/

My aunt lost her leg in a motorcycle accident before I was born. I asked my parents, if looking like dad was so important, if it had been him, not his sister, on that motorcycle, would they have had my leg amputated at the knee at birth. Looking like dad isn't for the child's>>
