I heard this about American doctors in the 90s but it *can't* still be true

I trained 03-06 (training never really ends though) and haven’t seen forced retraction ever. I’ve worked at several different hospitals in three states.

The doctor is probably in her early 40s.

It’s nowhere near as common in Canada as in ‘Merica. We’re special like that unfortunately.

I think it doesn't really happen in Ireland except for medical reasons, though I think they changed guidelines around religious circumcision after someone died and doctors do those too now.

America is fairly unique. There are actually very interesting reasons why it’s common here and not most other countries. Believe it or not it has a lot to do with the guy who created Raisin Bran cereal and bogus health concerns related to teenage masturbation.

I'm not positive on the numbers, but believe around 30%of Canadian neonates are still circumcised. Someone please correct me if this is way off.

When I started in the 90’s, > 90% were circumcised at my hospital. Then it became delisted and parents began to have to pay for it. Now >90% are uncircumcised and it’s not done in the hospital.

Canadian doctor? I wish that were true, I also wish it had happened a few decades earlier, enough to prevent my own circumcision, The numbers never got that low, not country wide but that's true in some provinces.
