The #DoctorsAreDickheads hashtag is wrong& should not be used to tar every 1. My family have experienced the worst of all- cover up, deceit, collusion &concealment. But listen to my parents below. "Everyone in life makes mistakes". More importantly - no more cover up!pic.twitter.com/j73Q3LDZew

So many people who have suffered terrible losses because of medical error, negligence and coverup are opposed to the tag #DoctorsAreDickheads. I'll never use it either because it cheapens this tragic and very complex issue. But it has obviously struck a nerve with patients.

That's unimaginably awful! The pain and the damage done to so many people are beyond words. I'd imagine it's very hard to trust any doctor after such shocking things happened to you.

It is, and I could go on even - eg/ about the doctor who told me to drown my cat in the lake to cure my allergies (I was like 6). I know the hashtag is offensive, but the discussion desperately needs to happen. Victims are being ignored, even branded as "trolls"...

You poor kid (I know you're grown up now :-)). If anyone told me to drown my cat in the lake I'd be beside myself. So cruel. You're right that the discussion desperately needs to happen. But problem with the # is that it's nasty and I won't stoop to nasty. This is too important.

Yeah, I was just stunned and cried as I recall. My mom was furious. I agree that it's not an ideal hashtag. It's provoking a response by being confrontational, but sadly not so many good responses. If you have ideas for a better wording, maybe we can do better next time.

Good for your mum. I hope she gave him/her hell. What about "DamagedByMedics" or "NotTreatedWithCare" or "LetDownByDoctors" Anything is going to sound tame by comparison, but we have to avoid being "doctorist". And anyway, it isn't always just doctors who cause the damage.

No it isn't always just doctors that cause damage, but doctors have done the most damage to me in my life, from my own circumcision, my genital mutilation, thirty years ago, to their approach of throwing pills at any problem. I was put on Prozac for instance, in 1993 Liley put >>

And that's just sexual damage, we can go into my diagnosis of ADHD as a child, given medications that were amphetamines, I had dietary issues that caused it, that could have been fixed instead of drugs. And there are many more examples in my life when I was harmed by medicine.

Holy shit! You've had a worse time of it that I have, and I'm dying because of what happened to me. And you're so young :-( Male genital mutilation is something that's not talked about much. One of the last taboos, eh?

I'd also like to point out that when Liley admitted to the harms from Prozac, I was 7. I wasn't on the drug for at least another 5 years after, so not only was it still on the market, and I think still is now, but the side effects were known, not told to me, before I started it.
