Judges are scoring her new move at a lower difficulty out of “fear that Biles is so good that she might run away with any competition she enters simply by doing a handful of moves that her rivals cannot.” Facing Black excellence, just change the rules.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/24/sports/olympics/simone-biles-yurchenko-double-pike.html …

I don’t remember reading about scoring being changed after Nadia Comaneci score 10.0’s in 1976
-
Scoring was actually changed for all events in 2006. Not in response to Comaneci's score, but the perfect 10 doesn't even exist anymore in gymnastics (Comaneci is on record as hating it btw)

Hell let them want to beat her! Bringing her down to a lower level lowers everyone in the sport- let the stars shine!

Surya faced a lot of racism in figure skating. The back flip is not an example of it though.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2018/02/22/twenty-years-later-figure-skatings-most-famous-backflip-remains-amazing-and-illegal/ …

Thinking down the road, it lessens the sport. It diminishes the next athlete who comes along and tops Simone’s accomplishment.
-
I agree. She is the greatest, that's a thing! It lasts until someone else defeats them, this diminishes her greatness, which diminishes the Olympics itself. This judging error cannot stand. It is a refusal to recognize greatness.
