Thank God for Jim Brown, who refused to just run thru tackles, but also ran thru barriers of racism & hatred. Rather than just use his platform to get money, he used his athleticism as a platform for the truth. Brother Brown, you ran your race; now, take your rest.

If they were concerned, they would raise the minimum wage, subsidize child care & family leave, fund public education, and address gun violence. They would declare a state of emergency because poverty–the 4th leading cause of death in this nation–is an epidemic in #NC.

Their attack on womens’ rights are undermined by their own inconsistency and hypocrisy. Rather than uplifting North Carolinians, the #NCGA chooses to suppress the possibilities of the lives of poor & low-wealth residents, making it clear that they are not concerned about life.

The extremist lawmakers who voted to override the Governor’s veto on the abortion ban today will try to couch their positions as being biblical, but the Scripture makes it clear that their concerns should be centered around uplifting the hungry, the poor, the sick & imprisoned.

Politicians claim to be “pro-life” but deny people healthcare, living wages, & the protections to sustain life. If they were serious about life, they would address the fourth leading cause of death in the US—poverty. #NC 12-week abortion ban cannot stand:

The states passing abortion bans are the same ones passing voter suppression measures, rejecting living wages and more. Attacks on democracy–in #NC and beyond–cannot persist. Call on & to end the targeted attacks on NC’s poor

$50 million is .03% of Wells Fargo’s net worth—a tiny investment in image management if they go on exploiting people & the community. Remember, they made this commitment in 2017, but kept on discriminating.

Wells Fargo, for example, made billions by exploiting Black, brown & low-income people. When they gave $50 million to the NAACP earlier this year, that did nothing to change discriminatory practices.

The work of the US Justice Dept to hold banks accountable for discriminatory practices is important, but we must pay attention to whether the settlements include real changes in the banking industry.

A 12-week abortion ban in NC is not about life. If extremists who claim to be Republicans were serious about life, they would pass healthcare, living wages, family leave and fully-funded public education. Please, just stop lying.
