We have some battles ahead of us, but remember what we face is not worse than what our foreparents faced. And there are more of us with more tools. These extremists are really weak because they know they can’t win in fair fight. 19% in NC, 7% in GA, 4% in FL are the small… Show more

We only need small percentages of poor and low wealth voters that haven’t voted to vote in NC, GA, & FL to overcome the margin of victory in the last few elections. So let’s go to work around a love, truth, justice & moral agenda. And let’s remember, as my co-chair  Show more

Lastly, we find ourselves here because of an unholy alliance between the greedy part of corporate America that supported the gutting of Section 5 and the blocking of a living wage and universal health care. Progressive corporate leaders are going to have to get in this fight just… Show more

Third, the framing of voting rights as a Black issue rather than an issue that connects to every other issue --LGBTQ+ rights, union rights, health care, public education. We must change this narrative. Voter suppression is an attack on democracy.

We must make it clear across the state that you can never ever sit out an election. Extremists are winning by small voter percentages that could easily be overcome by persons who just choose not to vote. This seat was decided by 165k votes in an election where 1 million ppl… Show more

This extreme action must emboldened our action and agitation. We must now take these matters to the federal court, but we must also recognize that these members of the Supreme Court were elected. They are not lifelong positions, and none of them were elected by a margin so great… Show more

We can’t be overly giddy or celebratory about record low unemployment in an economy where people who work full-time don’t earn enough to survive. Remember, slavery was full employment. Today, low unemployment w/ high rates of low wages is not a healthy economy. This is why the… Show more

This is sad news. Now Mr. B belongs to the ages. The best way we can honor him is to model how he used the arts & his gifts to expand & promote the Movement—not for Black ppl alone, but for love & justice for all humanity.

We’re winning. Today you focused on the issues, called out policy murder & showed them this religious, moral, advocate, impacted people coalition. They saw us & said ‘ain’t no way in heaven we’re going to do this today.’ Now we know the lesson: stay here!

Understand the power of today. Tennesseans of all races, ages, and differences marched to the state capitol & filled the balcony of the TN House. We stopped extremists from voting to put more guns in schools. We will keep fighting to stop public policy violence in all its forms.
