It's just another thing YouTube is doing which limits growth of small channels and separates them further from large channels. We are just the filler. Don't forget that YouTube does not care about us.

Really makes me want to look into ad blocker. If I can’t support my friends and channels that I enjoy with my views, I really don’t want those funds to be redirected to the reasons for this change in the first place.

Unfortunately, that might not be enough. I have 2,200 subscribers, but my 12 month view time is only just over 1/2 of the required 4,000 hours. Of course, maybe my content is bad :)
