The burning smell is worrisome. Try it without the accelerator for sure... after you figure out what the burning smell is! Some very nice and new PSU's are reported to just not work with accelerated machines.

Some better news today. The audio problem would appear to have been with the TV as pulling the white cable out and putting it back in fixed the issue. After some nudging the RF modulator produced an image (I notice there is a screw on it - for tuning, perhaps?).
Personally don’t use RF it’s the poorest of pics , composite or even better RGB. As for the HDD bin it and replace with a CF card solution. I’m assuming the 1200 is working now?

I won't use the RF but I'd still like to know the amiga is fully operational. Keys don't work. I managed to change the max transfer size on the CF card (press return after entering the new value). Shapeshifter doesn't boot; perhaps needs partition rather than HF.

Update: Hard drive, internal floppy drive and membrane do not work. Amiga powers on and off repeatedly with the internal floppy power cable plugged in to the motherboard and produces burning smell. Does this sound familiar? External floppy drive and CD-ROM drives work.
