Thanks @XinlessV and @AmigaRob! I've opened up the Amiga and it looks like a capacitor near the corner where the power cable plugs in may have produced a yellow discharge - a bit like ear wax!
Does that sound familiar and is it possible to replace a capacitor on the motherboard?

Thanks! Is the dry yellow material around the lower left of the black capacitor in this picture a symptom you're familiar with? How important is it that I neutralize this discharge? What base and how should it be applied? What would it cost to have this replaced?pic.twitter.com/lJirqQ3L5J

quite important if it’s that much. Neutralize what you can access, remove the capacitor, and neutralize what was under that. Then a install a new one. If you can’t. Neutralize what’s thier and send it into someone who can do the repairs.
