I just switched on my 1200 for the first time in some years and it produced a strong and unpleasant smell from the corner the power cable plugs into. There may have been a click sound as well. Do you know anything about this or would you be able to recommend anyone who would?
That’s leaking caps if it smells like rotten fish.. it would need a recap and a clean up. I have FAQs on the website that will help and explain :-)

Ah, so that’s how you would describe that smell, I think I’ve smelled dying capacitors before, but they made a magnesium kind of smell, but they probably used a different type of capacitor.
