110,000 acres are on fire in Southern California and 200,000 people have been evacuated. Fires will continue to get worse each wildfire season unless we act. Now is the time to pass the Resilient Federal Forests Act. I call on the Senate to take up this bill. cc: @NatResourcespic.twitter.com/cOXrCJrI7A

It Is Time to Pass the Resilient Federal Forests Act
The House passed this bill on November 1, following a record wildfire season with millions of acres going up in smoke and ash. Just this week, fires have flared up again in southern California.

How about treating these fires as the natural disaster they are and fund them as such instead of depleting the forest service funding which could be used to prevent these fires.

The Resilient Federal Forests Act would do just that.

Dear Rep. Westerman, I support the bill, but please check your facts. Non of the current fires in SoCal started on Federal lands. All county brush and grass lands. Same during the October fires in NorCal. I read your bill and I don’t see funding for state and county land.

Not the Thomas Fire burning the Los Padres National Forest? Or the Wilson Fire in the Angeles National Forest?

Thomas Fire started on county land, and after he Santa Ana winds stopped, the fire reversed and burned up onto the Los Padres. Wilson Fire was a couple months ago. Both are burning, or burnt in chapparell. Not timber.

It is called silviculture, the practice of forestry. As an educated and licensed forester, I can tell you that simply blaming it on climate change doesn't fix the problem. Forests need active management to stay healthy and resilient. #FactsMatter

Oh I am aware of siliviculture. Dont think you understand what it means. Its great you remember a big word from a chapter you read in college. You may be licensed but you dont seem to educated. Maybe you should read Kevin O'Hara. Brush up and get back to me. #RealFactsMatter

Some of the largest fires are in the Angeles and Los Padres National Forests.

Since @natresources tweeted this, I’m sure the bill wants to cut down all the trees in the forest and sell them to private companies
