Today, the House passed the Dignity in Aging Act of 2019 (H.R. 4334) a strong, bipartisan bill to reauthorize the essential programs in the Older Americans Act.
The reauthorization of this bill is an important priority for the Illinois seniors and families that depend on the vital services and support provided by the Older Americans Act. I’ve worked to make sure their voices and priorities are included.pic.twitter.com/VmEgKr9F8K
Today's bill includes:
expanded access and availability to meals for seniors
stronger support for family caregivers
increase in overall and transportation funding
The bill also includes my bipartisan amendment to ensure that programs serving seniors are ready to respond to outbreaks or other public health emergencies.
That is a positive outcome during a complicated time. Caring for our most vulnerable populations is a value that should not be partisan. Thank you for your work in this and many other efforts.
