What gets me is how seldom people consider how these checks would be enforced and who would be going after those that didn't comply. It would be the start of war on drugs 2.0.

Good job completely missing the point. The point is that a right is not supposed to require "registration" or taxation to be exercised. Hilariously enough I bet you also oppose voter ID laws, don't you?
