The violence in Venezuela is appalling. I hope both sides can resolve their differences peacefully. However, if the American people support engaging in military action in the region, then the Constitution requires proper congressional approval first.

All too often, our military gets involved in foreign wars without the consent of Congress. My colleagues and I swore an oath to defend the Constitution. We should come together to uphold that oath by demanding a vote on any military action in Venezuela.
