Since you're running for your fourth term I'm curious if this will be your last? Or do you not believe in term limits yourself?

I don't want to see you go, just thought I heard you were a fan of term limits in the swamp series, could be missing remembering though
-
I am a cosponsor of the term limit bill but I haven’t self-term-limited, for the reasons noted above. Also, I would say, people will be sorely disappointed at the problems that will persist even if term limits pass. It’s just not a silver bullet.
-
Agreed, but actions speak louder for some, and co-sponsoring a bill about term limits without limiting your own term is a sticky spot. You leave, then nothing changes, you stay, you look like a hypocrite.

-
That’s the point of my original tweet... self imposed term limit pledges by candidates are a gimmick at best, and counterproductive at worst, for those constituents who really want term limits.
-
All the supporters of term limits would be out of office in 4-10 years. How would momentum ever build to actually pass term limits? However, a part of me that loves freedom doesn’t want the Government telling me who can’t be my representative (Executive branch is different).
-
That's a very good point.

Cool. Let’s start with you. I mean hell having you represent me is about like having nothing at all.

My Audit the Fed bill passed the oversight committee this Congress. Also, hundreds of acres of hemp were grown and harvested in Ky this year thanks to the hemp legislation that I was instrumental in getting on the 2013/2014 farm bill, and into law.
-
What have you done for us lately? I know it’s late in the day considering midterms are in 4 days, but how about a town hall? In Northern Ky, for free, for ALL 4th district constituents. Not just rich biz donors and special interests people? You know, those people you REPRESENT

Did you place a term limit on yourself?
-
No. Self imposed term limit pledges, in the absence of universally imposed term limits, are a gimmick at best and counterproductive at worst.

So, a question. If all of Congress was swapped out, lets say by term limits, and there was never anyone there with more than 8 years of experience... would the situation improve or is it too late for that?
-
Now that hypothetical could work with two more constraints... no one with even a year of experience in DC and no state legislators can come to DC. They practice all their bad habits in the State legislatures and perfect them in DC.
-
wow, that means it is truly very bad there AND at the state level. I can see why some are giving up and not voting. I will continue to vote and for the best person, regardless of party, or lack there of. Get good people at the local level, and go from there.

As gimmicks go, that pales in comparison to Trump sending 15k troops right before midterms to stop 4K migrants who won’t reach the border for months, wasting millions of taxpayer’s dollars.

Missouri has term limits of 12 years for their state houses of Congress. They allow 6 two year terms for the house and 2 six year terms for the senate. I think this would be good for the feds as well!

We need term limits and we also need bureaucratic limits. 10 years is enough for someone to work in a government position.

You said “swamp” three times in one tweet. Impressive, you’ve been trained well
