It’s in the 10th paragraph but I have to give NYT credit for reporting that a good guy with a gun stopped this bad guy with a gun.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/25/us/louisville-kroger-shooting.html …

I think you need to look up the definition of “stopped”. FFS

Are you also disputing NYT definition of stopped?: “Mr. Bush was stopped by an armed bystander who shot at him in the parking lot, and whose name the police have not released. “

Sure, considering the very next sentence discusses his fleeing. This only “stopped”, when he was arrested. Unless the good guy had put him down, the shootout could have continued.

THIS IS YOUR TAKEAWAY? How about 1) why did a man with a long history of domestic violence (one of the major indicators for mass shooting) have a gun? 2) A denouncement of what was clearly a racially motivated attack 3) Sympathy for the victims’ families.

How does a paranoid schizophrenic get a gun? The rigorous screening doesn't seem to be working. Guns are big profit.

Wait - the gunman told the #goodguywithagun that "White's don't kill whites", and the GGWAG let him go. The other GGWAG shot AT the gunman in the parking lot spraying bullets lord knows where. It was the police who finally got him. This was another #ggwag fail.

Yeah, but the point is that if individual #1 hadn’t had a gun in the first place, individual #2 wouldn’t have needed to use his, and two innocent people would still be alive. The same system that allows our hero to obtain firearms has allowed an unstable killer to do the same.

Govt regs are not the answer. Because once we have a precedent, watch out. We have got to get away from running to the govt for solutions.

One of the primary functions of government is to keep its people safe from harm. It’s not “running to the government for solutions” to want that.

I’m not a policymaker. I’m open to ideas. I’m not saying banning all firearms is the answer. But I don’t think the right to bear any and all arms without reasonable limitations should be enshrined in our Constitution.

I would support legislation aimed at reducing the supply/availability of firearms (and common sense legislation banning certain semiautomatic rifles, etc.)... which would drive up the price, even on the black market. Even criminals follow the law of supply and demand.
