What's your plan for preventing a totalitarian theocracy from violently oppressing 35 million Afghans after we leave?

How many of those Afghans prefer tribal theocracy to a secular centralized republic?

It's not "tribal theocracy" and this isn't a Kipling story. Talibanism is totalitarianism imposed by violence on those too weak to resist, and you should be for less of it. And you dodged my question.

Why should Americans spill blood for some other nation?

Well, other nations are full of people who ought not be violently oppressed by theocratic lunatics. Afghans are individuals with rights. But this isn't just some "other nation", this is one we invaded then failed to rebuild. If we leave, we will be responsible for what follows.

Just bring them home. We only continue to make a bad situation worse with our continued involvement.

Because bringing them home will cause Afghanistan to first collapse into anarchy and then disappear into a theocratic nightmare. The status quo is not good. Leaving would be much worse and the blood that would be spilled would be on the hands of every American who let it happen.

No "winnable mission" in Afghanistan is worth the life of even one more son or daughter. Nor a single one of their limbs. Or another moment of mental anguish.

After 17-yrs giving our gov.even a single minute of time to come up with a 'winnable mission' would be acting like a battered wife believing her husband when he says he's learned his lesson & "it's going to be different". Just bring them home. No qualifiers. #WarWeary
