Today I received a briefing from @USAsiaPacific David Stilwell regarding ongoing developments in #HongKong. The #CCP led by #XiJingping & Premier Li has shown that Chinese #communism & #democracy can't coexist.
Democracy empowers the free thought of individuals to seek liberty. Once people experience democracy, the authoritarian rule of communism will not survive. The people of #HongKong have experienced freedom/liberty all their lives & are protesting China’s attempt to take it away.
It shows the insecurity of the #CCP knowing their form of authoritarian control will not survive. I look forward to working with my colleagues in #Congress, the Administration, & the @StateDept in holding the CCP accountable for its actions.
