I agree with you, but I have a question; Why did the House Dems put all their eggs in the 'let's call witnesses in the Senate' basket when you could have used your inherent contempt powers to bring the witnesses in to testify in the House? You are relying on the GOP, I wouldn't.

Because the contempt charges would be challenged and appealed at 3 levels of the Judiciary, all the way to the Supreme Court, which could take years. The abuse of powers and if elections were too urgent to let it go that long.
