I agree that with devices like this, security in the software important. But an often buried fact in a lot of these stories is that these hacks are caused by bad/leaked passwords not a hack of the product.

Ted, agree about need for Cyber Shield Act. However, here vendor (Ring) claims this was not caused by their security flaw. Claims affected users' reused uname/pw, stolen from some other vendor, allowed login to Ring. DK how shield can prevent stupidity.

How does this solve them having an easy passsword? They probably use the same pass for everything and it was leaked years ago but a hack/phish.
