How to stay safe during an earthquake:
stop, take cover under a desk or table & hold on
if you’re in bed, stay put & use a pillow to protect your head & neck
stay indoors until the shaking stops
if driving, pull over but avoid overpasses, bridges & power lines

I was 5 miles from the epicenter of the Northridge quake (6.7) and had I stayed in my bed, a chest of drawers would have fallen on top of me. Moved just in time, like one second. I guess there are always exceptions, but my main goal was to get physically protected. 25 yrs in LA.
