I was 5 miles from the epicenter of the Northridge quake (6.7) and had I stayed in my bed, a chest of drawers would have fallen on top of me. Moved just in time, like one second. I guess there are always exceptions, but my main goal was to get physically protected. 25 yrs in LA.
