Seems to me that every mass shooter we have had in the last 20 years was a law-abiding citizen until they weren't.

Mostly true! Only 4 mass shooters in that span were not law abiding. One-half of the Columbine shooters (he was 17), Adam Lanza, & the San Bernandino shooters were the only ones that were NOT law abiding. All other mass shooters were law abiding citizens, got their guns legally.
