I paid $30 tuition a quarter, I recall, when I enrolled at UCLA in '66. It's over $3,000/quarter now, I'm told. It was $2800/quarter when my daughter was there about 5 yrs ago.

It’s out of control. Tuition has gone up 306% since 1980. A few causes: fewer and fewer state/fed dollars; more kids going to college (good problem to have); schools jacking up tuition as access to aid increases; administrator salaries.

This administration is considering reaching back into an old program to subsidize farmers (who would much rather just engage in free trade). Amazing that we don't help with student debt

Might be the case with small sustainable farms, but big ol’ corporate water grabbing farms will take every dime the govt gives them & then some, no matter how big their profits are. Isn’t that right,
@RepLaMalfa? How many tuitions could we pay w/ that $5mil in subsidies you took?

How about we stop starting wars in the middle east and we can give everyone free college and grad school with that money. (And health care, mental health care, and housing to everyone who is homeless....)

Maybe repair a road or two, and modernize our airports...anything but continuing the cycle of death and destruction in foreign lands, which leads to intense hate and terrorism against us and our allies

"We all do better when we all do better." Fmr. U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN). The mark of a successful economy and flourishing government occurs when it leaves no one behind. We are anything but meeting that goal.

That was one of Hillary's proposals among other approaches. Credit where it is due.

As a real estate broker I can attest to the significant number of would-be first time buyers whose student loans make it difficult or impossible.
