Professors pay is already in the toilet, thanks to bloated administration pay. Math prof husband made <50k w/a PhD, then only 53k on tenure track. We qualified for WIC & Medicaid at the time. Thank God we got away.

You can declare bankruptcy to wipe those out, but we can't with student loans. Even if we have 4 kids w/medical issues that keep us from working, we'll be paying our husband's PhD bills forever. :(
