The only defunding of the police happening in this body comes from those who voted against The Heroes Act. Republican pearl clutching over the need to demilitarize our local police force and increase social services and education is laughable. Divervitng a small portion of our military budget away towards education, social services and mental health would do so much more!

Why not both? Why not take ALL of that and start rebuilding American Dams, American Bridges, roads, and classrooms? We need all of it. Teachers are underpaid, but the police have tanks. Military overspending and militarization of police are problems. We have better uses.
