Italy has experienced a dramatic reduction in blood donations. If we experience something similar (which we are expecting to), it will be catastrophic. Blood donation centers are begging people to donate to prop up their supply.

I donated yesterday. The center had set up the waiting and blood donation areas to accommodate the 6ft distance guidelines. They had staff wiping surfaces down and plenty of hand sanitizer. Before I entered the building, they took my temp and asked if I had any symptoms.

@RepSwalwell is there any other alternative to the Red Cross to donate blood at, knowing it will go to our local hospitals? Unfortunately RC doesn't allow certain people to donate, and the East Bay has a large population of LGBTQ+ that might find themselves disqualifiedThanks. How much blood does coronavirus cost? Or is blood donation just busywork for the hand-wringing masses? Good way to get a free test and get yourself put on a list me thinks.
