The U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani in Baghdad is a dramatic escalation of tensions in the region, and a departure from our longstanding foreign policy practices, undertaken without any congressional notice or approval.

No American family will mourn Suleimani’s loss, but every family should be concerned this killing brings America closer to a war we must avoid. I was briefed Friday as a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, but I still have many questions.

The President must show Americans whatever specific intelligence he has to support his action; a legal justification for acting without proper congressional authorization for military force; & a strategic rationale w/ a concrete plan for dealing with its inevitable consequences.

Yes, I support @realDonaldTrump declassifying the intelligence (that you would have leaked) used to support the airstrike. How about he also declassifies the intelligence that your friends @AdamSchiff @SpeakerPelosi and other gang of 8 Dems lied about to promote the Russia hoax?

I am 💯sure the terrorist would have gotten away if Dem’s knew about the strike. Someone would have leaked it to him.

No, he doesn’t. He was elected because we chose him to make those decisions. Publicly discussing everything is how you jeopardize national security. And, you’re wrong, he did NOT need congressional approval to take out the terrorist behind destroying our embassy.

No ... he doesn't have to do any of that. Eric, Soleimani was killed in IRAQ, where Congress already authorized military action. Your argument is, well, dumb. :) But that's par for the course for you.

The story behind the killing of #Soleimani: 4 days ago he made a phone call ordering the attack on the US embassy in #Baghdad and the kidnapping of diplomats along side with strikes on #US and #Israeli targets. #Israeli intelligence enabled the #US operation!pic.twitter.com/H74gXHswWr

Israel had the best intelligence operation in the entire world. I thought from the beginning that they were the ones who provided the operative intelligence.
