Today, on the 78th anniversary of the attack on #PearlHarbor, we remember the more than 2,400 American service members and civilians who lost their lives. We must never forget their sacrifice.

My uncle was actually there that AM, was getting ready for church when all hell broke loose. He survived but many of his buddies & fellow soldiers did not. Did visit the Memorial as a teenager, USS Arizona, still leaking oil to the surface like tears.pic.twitter.com/zs42nCiBmm

We should also remember the millions of Japanese that died from the atomic bomb.

Our mum’s mum was just a school kid, her dad in the army. They were stationed there on this day. She saw the planes doing strafing runs down their street. It was a Sunday.

Her mum that day lost her ability to fall asleep properly. Memere had to drop out of school in sixth grade, when her mum died. She raised her siblings. She married Pepere and raised two children while he served in the army.
