Rep. Eric Swalwell Retweeted Jonathan Turley

I don’t agree with your interpretation of the Constitution on impeachment. But you have a right to interpret it, free from academic reprisal and threat to your safety. I’m sorry you’re experiencing threats.https://twitter.com/JonathanTurley/status/1202681745038028806 …

    Rep. Eric Swalwell added,

    Jonathan Turley @JonathanTurley
My call for greater civility and dialogue may have been the least successful argument I made to the committee. Before I finished my testimony, my home and office were inundated with threatening messages and demands that I be fired from GW. https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/473171-turley-democrats-offering-passion-over-proof-in-trump-impeachment …

Disagree on academic reprisal. It's not about his interpretation of the Constitution. It's about how it is seemingly fluid based on partisanship. A law school SHOULD consider not allowing a professor with such situational ethics to prepare future generations of attorneys.

I immediately thought to myself I do not agree about the stance on academic reprisal. I would that in this case it would be absolutely justified.

Congressman it wasn’t an interpretation. That’s the problem. He obviously should not receive threats regardless. However, he made points that made no sense. He says you need a mulvaney or bolton to testify. Trump is preventing them from doing that. Literally obstructing Congress.

That’s why he said to go to the courts to enforce congressional subpoenas. That’s the crux of Turley’s argument AGAINST obstruction

Not free from academic reprisal. His version of the constitution is wrong and only used to enable a criminal - potus - and his criminal canal - the GOP. Turley should not be anywhere near, or teaching in, a law school.

@JonathanTurley exactly my sentiments 👍 it’s a travesty that you’re preaching incorrect information to the next generation! I know I sure would hate my children be learning your interpretation of our Constitution!

Turley has his right to interpretation. He agrees that the call was not perfect. Only suggested more time. I disagree with his testimony, and think he is biding for a more purposeful role. The one thing I think we can (hopefully) agree on is @RepSwalwell is outstanding.

Hear, hear. @RepSwalwell's moment for higher office hasn't come yet, but I see him there in the future, and in the meantime he has shown himself a dogged defender of the Constitution and the American people. Hat's off to you, sir.

You are a stand up guy Mr. Swawell. I think Turley was disingenuous and dissembled, particularly in how he addressed Katyal’s book, but no, he does not deserve threats.

Please ask more questions from Prof. T. I do not agree with him but I think it would help convince the public which is KEY. It was a missed change not to engage more with the GOP witness.
