Well the military did burn through so much .50 Cal ammo in the early years of OIF that they pulled WWII era supplies out of storage to use. But since there was still a supply of 60 year old ammo available, that illustrates

During my service in the 90s and 2000s, we routinely had pyro (flares, smoke grenades, star clusters) and claymore mines issued to us that had vietnam-era production dates.
