Hi Erin, I lost my daddy to suicide completed with a firearm. My uncle passed a few years later by the same method. Both passed due to a decision made in that moment and the problems causing them to do this were resolved a day later. Had they just stayed an extra day...

Having lost loved ones to suicide, please realize there are many means and it remains an ongoing risk for those who struggle with depression. Talking openly about it with family is better than making it taboo.

My cousin took his life with a pistol. He also had pills he was going to use as an alternative. If someone wants to take their life they will find a means to do it.

All due respect, a firearm is the most effective (statistically) way to commit suicide, so of course it's a key risk for success. But stats don't show guns as key to the number of attempts, and if someone really wants to die, rather be successful than vegetative.
