I have one son who was born overseas during my years on active duty. This administration wants to withhold American birth certificates now, under these guidelines? As a baby, how would he take the citizenship test?

If a military family baby is born before Oct. 29th, it doesn't apply. Starts Oct. 29th. IF the baby is due after, come home & give birth with family here? Get the baby citizenship here, a passport and rejoin your husband overseas. Make sure you get the baby a SSN card first.

"The Cooch" is telling us we're reading the law wrong - but what matters is how the bureaucrats at embassies & consulates read it. They now have the power to delay citizenship for military infants indefinitely.pic.twitter.com/Nl8iznBv7n

This brings USCIS in line with the State Dept and the INA from '08. This ONLY affects a very, very small group of non-citizens & those not meeting residency requirements.

Is this retroactive? My sister and I were born in England while my Dad was stationed there. Granted, this was 1963 and 1964, but still unnerving and so sadly wrong!

No. It starts soft. 29th of this year. My 2 oldest were born in Germany while my husband and I both served there and they are fine. You are fine. After Trump loses, the new president will fix this. All kids born in between will also be legal citizens.

I suppose this is designed to weaken our military presence abroad.

Unfortunately, military members don't have a say as to where they're transferred.
