For too long, the government has profited off of those investing in their education. Our focus should be on helping students succeed—not weighing them down with debt.

This is the best idea for addressing student debt that's come out, both moderate in its approach and acknowledges the point of federal loans should be to help a student afford an education and not profit off of them!

I would be happy at capped at 2%. These companies do need to make money to pay those who service the loans. However, bilking students at the current 7% I pay is ridiculous.

Definitely a good place to start. My student loans have basically doubled in the past 10 years due to interest.

Good, if it is means-tested. But I wish we'd spend more money and attention to pre-K thru 12 public schools. Everyone goes to those; <40% go to college.

Schools get enough money. They do not spend it on teachers/students. USA pays more, per student, than any other country. We are WAY behind other countries in education. It is a crime how our schools have been hijacked by, for-profit, enterprises and middlemen. They get the $$$.

How about letting them deduct everything they pay each year on the zero interest rate loan?
