I wish the Republicans were as passion about gun laws for protecting our children in schools as they were about the wall.
Last night I helped volunteers serve dinner to furloughed federal workers. A paralegal with her daughter told me, “obviously, I want this shutdown to end ASAP. But please do not give in for a wall. That’s not America.” I handed her a hot sandwich with soup & promised I wouldn’t.

After this is over, we need legislation to protect federal workers so they can never be used as pawns again, made to work for nothing because of an entirely preventable crisis over funding the government. Slavery is illegal.

Every member of Congress can afford to go without pay and vacations whenever the government is shut down due to their unwillingness to work together. Well, except for one nameless new House member who believed it was perfectly okay to beg for donations to fund her new DC digs.
