The result of gerrymandering, makes the Republicans desperate to hang on to what they can hang on to. It makes the Democrats exasperated by the inequity of their voting power. So every year things get more ratcheted up with anger and discourse.

We saw here in Idiohio after three decades of GOP control that each decade the gerrymander got more outrageous. Once again this past November, Republicans eked out about 51.5% of the congressional vote and got 12 seats to Democrats' 4.

That’s how we do it here. It works. Parties have no say over electorates, our elections are on Saturday, you can vote at any public school, voting is compulsory, paper ballots. It works.

PS from twitter experience, USA citizens seem stunned that we do it that way! So simple for us, so hard/complex for them. Pelosi calling for PH for voting? Just a Saturday would do plus absentee & early. It’s not hard as we know! Frustrated, sorry....

I hope something can be done. But doesn’t some of it happen at the state level as well? I live in Ohio, heavily gerrymandered and still completely Republican in the statehouse and legislature. Honestly, they are ruining this state with their backward thinking.

There's some hope here in Idiohio. Both legislative & congressional redistricting kick in in 2022. Sadly, there are loopholes in the redistricting ballot issues that passed with 70% of the vote. I thought that landslide might keep the GOP honest but now I'm not so sure.
