21st century or 18th century is irrelevant, government advocating the confiscation of private citizens guns is EXACTLY the reason the 2nd Amendment was written in the first place. Second point; they are not "assault weapons" as they do not fire full auto.

We all understood that even a leftist knows that you can’t use nukes against popular resistance. The point here is the brief lapse of pretense, showing the power trip that drives this politician, and that they will use any means to impose their righteous will when given power.
