Developed bipartisan postal bill focused on commonsense reform that we agree would place the postal service on more stable financial footing

Like any agreement, H.R. 5714 is not perfect & I welcome additional feedback from postal stakeholders and members on both sides of the aisle

Believe this bill provides us with a key opportunity to address some of the most outstanding challenges facing @USPS.

We cannot continue the status quo of net losses and a decline in first-class mail volume.

Bill eliminates unfunded liability & avg annual payments of $5.5B @USPS has been required to pay to prefund future retiree health benefits

The bill will remove this burden by requiring the full integration of postal health care with the medicare program.

While #USPS reports employees have contributed $29B to #medicare since 1983, many postal retirees are not drawing on benefits they paid for.
