I do believe that we should afford the @DeptofDefense flexibility in resolving the disposition of the remaining detainees under rule of law

Must work on bipartisan basis to examine whether each detainee poses a threat to the national security of U.S. and our coalition partners.

Must assess if we can securely transfer eligible detainees to foreign custody & mitigate potential to return as militants to battlefields.

In order to strengthen detainee vetting process, President established an interagency board in 2009 to evaluate detainees on a rolling basis

Board also determines detainees' eligibility for transfer to a third country, prosecution, or continued detention

This is a marked improvement over previous vetting conducted by only a single agency, the @DeptofDefense.
