My grandfather was from Dorchester. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was lucky enough to make it home. When he signed up, he didn't know if he would or wouldn't, but was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. It makes me sick that someone would deface this memorial.

They should try covering the stain with plaster of Paris. When it dries it will draw the oil out of the stone. It will probably take several applications for the stain to fade
