Men & women were separated, children clung to their guardians. The Spanish speakers on our trip talked to the kids about how long they had been there (on average, less than a week — but for some men, in particular, up to 30 days).
But by far the most impactful moment was was when one of the CBP officers walked by pushing an 8-month-old unaccompanied minor in a stroller. The visit left me with an overwhelming sense of the extent of the tragedy of what’s happening at the border. It impacted every member on our trip. As we walked back to our transportation, to end the day, our group of 16 Members of Congress was silent.

Not acceptable conditions
This is the direct effect of enacting the administration's Zero Tolerance policy without even a cursory evaluation of whether they had sufficient facilities and resources. You asses and address these things prior to implementation! The administration must be held accountable!
“Fenced room”??? These are cages. With children locked inside. And the signs on the outside of these cages say “cell”. Why sugar coat things instead of being accurate?
Many bad mouth other countries for how they treat those that live there, yet all the while we have sequestered groups of people in camps & taken away their possessions & freedom. The Hispanic population it's happening to now is NOT the first time in our country this has occurred.
