#RaiseTheWage would mean Michiganders would see an increase to a 15-dollar minimum wage, with more money in workers’ pockets, but done gradually so our small businesses can manage the change.

I’m glad to see this bill pass with bipartisan support, and I urge

Yeah what a completely ridiculous proposition by the house. More than doubling the federal minimum would literally be catastrophic. With such variation in rent, etc, dollars go much further in certain states! And really the minimum should be by county or district.
-
Which is exactly what has been happening in some particularly expensive urban areas. Doesn’t make sense for the fed gov’t to mandate area-specific min wage but this will provide a baseline. In places like the OC it should be > $15.

15 an hour minimum wage will just increase the amount of poverty. Prices of commodities goes up, the people currently making more that 15 an hour wages don't, end result is their money doesn't go as far and minimum wage "beneficiaries" don't see a net benefit.
-
That's one way inflation works. Prisons are teaching skilled trades to prisoners so they can be released ready to work and earn a good wage. Why aren't skilled trades and entrepreneurship encouraged more in society?
