I welcome the news that the Senate and House have voted on the President’s proposal to re-open the government — the fact that federal workers are going to get paid after 35 days without a paycheck is reason to be glad both parties have come to a consensus on a temporary deal.
Now, as I’ve been saying for some time, Democrats & Republicans need to get into a room & negotiate the specifics of an enduring deal to fund the government—it’s our fundamental responsibility as Members of Congress, and the people we represent are counting on us to get it done.
Today the temporary deal, tomorrow the permanent deal. Don’t let your constituents and the American people down. Make a sensible deal.

Elissa “Both Sides” Slotkin, please stop propagating such a blatant fallacy. Democrats in the House voted over and over again to open the government while Republicans in the Senate refused to vote. The issue is one-sided. I wish I were represented by someone who realized that.
And the dems refused to negotiate. (After supporting what they now oppose) That's how govt. works and @RepSlotkin realizes that. Both sides are to blame and both sides are obligated to negotiate and find a middle ground. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
