This week, the House passed five bipartisan bills to help veterans, their families, and surviving spouses. Each would ensure greater support for American vets and service members who are transitioning to civilian life.

☑️ The Gold Star Spouses and Spouses of Injured Servicemembers Leasing Relief Expansion Act would allow spouses of critically injured service members to terminate property and automobile leases, and surviving spouses to terminate automobile leases.

☑️ The Legal Services for Homeless Veterans Act would strengthen the help available to veterans facing certain legal issues that could lead them on a path to homelessness by establishing VA grants for organizations that provide legal services to homeless or at-risk vets.

☑️ The VA Reporting Transparency Act would require the VA to launch and maintain a website that includes all public reports to Congress, increasing transparency and accessibility to better serve the veteran community.

☑️ The Protecting Business Opportunities for Veterans Act would protect veteran-owned small businesses by directing the VA to work with the VA OIG to identify and penalize small businesses who take advantage of the Vets First Program, reducing the fraud and abuse in contracting.
