It also rejects the Trump Administration’s proposal to weaken standards on methane pollution from oil and gas production. It sets standards for new methane sources and if voluntary industry efforts don't decrease emissions on existing standards, mandatory standards kick in.
The bill is based on research by Dr. Veerabhadran Ramanathan of @UCSanDiego that found aggressively cutting super pollutants now could avoid 1.5 degrees of warming by the end of the century.
