While military bases are not ideal locations for asylum-seekers, proper oversight requires OIG access to every possible federal facility where migrants could be detained. Temporary shelters on military bases are better than the dismal overcrowding revealed by the DHS OIG report.
Having an efficient and humane asylum process would reduce the need for the shelters in the first place. What are you doing to stop their terrible metering process?
The right wasn’t complaining when they were housing detained minors on military bases. If these people need to be housed in tent cities on a military base so be it. They will be contained and not running around the base. And it won’t be a comfortable stay.
