It funds support services for unaccompanied children and provides urgently-needed funding for food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and legal assistance to help relieve the horrific over-crowding and help prevent additional deaths.
It also blocks the Trump Administration’s threat to withhold aid from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. This aid is essential to address the root causes that force people to flee their homes in the first place.
It also provides $60 million to reimburse states, local governments, and non-government organizations, which have shouldered the burden of humanitarian assistance, for the cost of care.
