We failed our fellow Americans and many died because they couldn’t access basic goods and services. We sent 1/3 as many federal workers in response to Maria as we did for Hurricane Harvey-- many were unqualified. When disaster strikes, we need to help one another. That's what we do as Americans. We must ensure that our disaster response teams are better prepared to help in a crisis. These disasters are only getting worse and becoming more frequent.
We also need to slow the rate of climate change, which is exacerbating natural disasters. If we don't, it will only cost us more lives and money. #ActonClimate #HurricaneMaria
